I joined W’innovate on the graduate programme as an assistant surface pattern and print designer. I’ve had the amazing opportunity to design surface patterns for products across Stationery, Homeware and Christmas! My handwriting has definitely become more versatile whilst working at W’innovate; I can be working on a kids’ character brief in the morning and a traditional botanical illustration in the afternoon!
Working in a vibrant studio amongst talented designers is also a massive bonus; I’ve learnt how other categories work and have absorbed their experience and knowledge too.
Aside from designing, this job has also allowed me to broaden my trend researching knowledge, build relationships with buyers, and see how products go from sketches to manufacturing in the Far East.
I’m looking forward to learning more about processes within the categories I’m linked to as well as seeing my designs launched next year. It’s an incredible opportunity for a graduate to see their designs on the high street, and I recommend the graduate program here at W’innovate to any aspiring designer.
